After a decade, the WGN9 Logo finally got a facelift. The typeface was given a slimmer and more elegant feel, and the two color logo was reduced to one for flexibility in our multiple uses of broadcast, digital, and print. Designing the logo had many difficulties since WGN has several brands that must be attached to the logo. The solution was to create a bar for the brand names underneath the main call letters. This was made to keep all the 10+ brands consistent, and no longer caused proportion issues as in the previous design. With an updated yet simple look, the new WGN9 logo can remain timeless while harking back to it’s classical roots that Chicagoan’s have come to know since the 1950s.
